Humberside Airport is situated in between Scunthorpe and Grimsby on the eastern side of Yorkshire. It is to be found by going up the A18, which is three miles from junction 5 of the M180, which leads to the M1, M18,M62 and A1. You can catch flights to and from a range of destinations such as Aberdeen, Amsterdam and Larnaca. There are also flights in the summer to destinations such as Crete and Corfu. As a guide, 9000 people passed through the airport over the recent August bank holiday.
The airport contains three sites close to the terminal building which has open air car parking with perimeter fencing. You can get short stay car parking in car park 1, while in car park 2 and 3 there is long term parking.
You make your payments to the car parks when you return from your destination. You can pay for the car park outside the terminal, or in the machines which are to be found inside the arrivals hall, or you can pay at the information desk at the airport. You can pay using credit cards and cash at the machines, and you can use your cheque book at the information desk.
You can drop people and their luggage at the airport outside the terminal at the setting down area. But you cannot park there. Should you be meeting a passenger from an arriving flight then you need to park in car park 1, the short term car park.
You can pre-book car parks in order to save some money. Not only can you pre-book parking, you can also pre-book a space in the airport lounge.
Parking in the short stay car park is free for the first 15 minutes, then it costs £2.00 for the next 45 minutes. It is £3.00 for between 1 and 2 hours. It is then £6 for 2-4 hours and goes up to £9.00 for between 12 and 24 hours. For each day or part thereof after that the cost is £8.00.
Long stay car parking enables you to stay in the car park for
a holiday or a business trip. However, the way that Humberside Airport manages
the parking is that they operate a minimum charge of £35. This means that
you may as well park in the short stay car park (car park 1) if you are away
for 4 days or less as you will be nearer to the terminal and it will also be
cheaper. However, the long stay car park costs £35.00 for 8 days, which
is a lot cheaper per day. For every 24 hours or part thereof afterwards the
cost is £4.25.
